Hi peeps,

I am definitely bad at keeping my visits to DA regular. Right now, believe it or not, I am founding a company with a friend, and it's taking up all of my time! That's why I'm realizing very, very late how blessed, honored and happy I am...

This little thing:

received a DD while I was away! My first ever!

I would like to say thank you to :iconmyraincheck: for featuring it, it's really an amazing honor to get a DD, especially in the Street category, as it's the type of photography I love above everything else (and I love everything else quite a bit!)
And I'd like to say a special thank you to :icon3wyl: , not only because she suggested my piece, but also because her constant support, her clever and subtle advice and her kindness as a person in general have really really helped me with my pictures.

And thank you all of you who faved, commented and liked my pics - there's nothing in the world that could make me happier!

Oh, and very importantly, thank you so much for the birthday wishes, all of you :dalove:

Alright, now that I have a DD, I better be worthy of it, so I'm gonna go and work on my pictures some more (when I have a little bit of time). Cause let's face it, there IS an awful lot of work to do for me to produce consistently good pieces - but with the amazing help and support here on DA, I'm sure I'll get there someday!

Love,

L.

Do  you know that Twitter trend, which encourages you to recommend interesting members to follow every Friday? Well, I'd like to do something similar and feature a few of the great deviants I encountered this week!

Photography

:iconwhitestone:

Whitestone

Although Whitestone posts only from time to time, he's still quite active on DA - and his gallery is one of the most stunning I have seen as far as Street photography goes. His pictures are impeccably processed in a crisp and contrasted B&W, his framing is always flawless and he tells great stories of interaction between man and architecture. A definite must see if you're into street!

:icondinabelenko:

Dina Belenko

A newcomer on DeviantArt, Dina Belenko has already earned a well deserved DD (I know that because I would have loved to suggest another of her works but she got her last one less than 6 months ago!) She takes brilliant pictures of inanimate objects, in which every bit becomes part of a story filled with humor and tenderness. Her creativity is well served by her perfect technical mastery. Take a tour!

Digital Art

:iconselashaik:

Sela Shaik

A true classical artist, Yifat Shaik experiments with shapes, lights and strokes on her iPad through the amazing Procreate app - and the results she gets are nothing short of amazing. From quick but well defined sketches to amazing, details works of art, her newly reopened gallery definitely deserves attention!

:iconnatashane:

Natasha Saville

A professional concept artist and illustrator, Natasha mixes science fiction and visual poetry in her gallery with great talent. Her imagination is without limits and her digital painting style, while remaining consistent and personal, offers a refreshing diversity depending on the effect she tries to achieve. There are dozens of stunning works in her gallery - several hours or rewarding exploration through an amazing art collection!

Our group needs voters!

As an aside, my group :iconcitypassion: dedicated to beautiful city photography, is still desperately looking for voters and admins! I encourage you to visit the group's page, and if you think you'd be willing to invest some time in the group, send me a note :) !

That's all folks!

Photography

:iconb-lightphotography:

B-LightPhotography

Despite his very young age (he's just 15 years old!) this Australian photographer achieves impressive nature and landscape photographs. His best works show a great understanding of light and composition and are equally impressive technically and artistically. Definitely a young man to follow!

:iconalexgphoto:

Alexgphoto

Alex has in her gallery all kinds of brilliant photography in many different styles. It's very difficult to sum up her work, as it connects to many different traditions and takes its inspiration from every part of life. Her eclectic taste is obvious in her great choice of photo artists' quotes. I recommend you have a look at her gallery and spend some time there, as there is always a new gem to be found in her pictures!

Digital Art

:iconbalaskas:

Christopher Balaskas

This professional concept artist has a whole gallery filled with brilliant utopian pieces. His landscapes in particular are stunning in that they always offer a tremendous atmosphere and bring the viewer into a rich imaginary world. Each work becomes a journey of its own and takes us through magical landscapes or futuristic worlds with an incredible ease.

The versatility of this deviant's gallery is pretty amazing. From intimate, soft portraits to intricate fantastical pieces, everything is a true inspirational work of art. Although his paintings don't lack detail, they manage to maintain a painterly feel, which makes them very striking and dynamic.

Hello guys!

I'm the founder of a group named :iconcitypassion:

We have been struggling for months (years) with our voting process, because it's not very good to have only one person voting on everything (democracy and stuff) but to have several persons voting we'd need to have quite a few committed voters - and we clearly don't have enough of them. Also, we all have "real lives", so it's kind of difficult to vote on pictures every single day. In short, we need more people to make sure that there will always be someone to vote on submissions.

So, would you like to take part in the adventure? We need people who have an interest for urban photography, who have a good taste in it (or at least a taste compatible with ours, however bad that can be :p) and who are ready to devote a bit of their time to voting on submissions. Also we are a rather selective group so you have to be ready to decline works more often than accept them.

Who's in? Please send me a note!

Thank you for reading (and hopefully for jumping in :) )!

Hello world!

So, one of the works I have recently suggested for a Daily Deviation (or DD) actually got one! Ok, as it happens I was only one of the very many people to suggest it (I am not surprised as it is a truly exceptional piece of art indeed) but still, I'm happy to be one of those who contributed to having this work and its author :iconantoniodeluca: justly rewarded. Here's the awesum stuff:
The Scream VS Mona Lisa! by antoniodeluca

Now something I'd like to add on the subject.
In that particular case, even if I had not sent a note to one of the DD DA guys out there, this work would have been featured. But most of the time that is not the case. DA has grown very big indeed and LOADS of great pieces of art come and go unnoticed every day. For that reason, it's very important that we all get involved and try to promote the pieces that move us, impress us or tell us a particular story.
Suggesting a DD is extremely simple. You can find a list of people who can feature DDs here: help.deviantart.com/18/
You have to spot the adequate person for the work of art you'd like to suggest, then you click on their profile, send them a note, et voila! Hopefully if they agree with you, you'll make somebody out there very happy.

Ah, and don't forget that a particular deviant can get a DD only once every six months, so before suggesting their art, check if they've got a DD already and how long ago they got it (you can find a list of all of a deviant's DDs at the bottom of the "browse" category in their gallery).

That's all folks! Enjoy looking at this amazing piece and don't forget to spread the love!

Speak soon,

A.
